North Philadelphia Portraits
STORYBOOK
Plants tell stories and people can tell stories about their lives with plants. North Philadelphia neighbors gathered together to learn new methods of making art with plants and tell stories about themselves and their plants. We learned new ways to create abstract and realistic images and sculptures with plants. Together we laughed, joked, told stories while we enjoyed printing, painting, gluing, tying, cutting, and drawing with plants.
Botanography teamed up with Bahjah Muhammad at Horticulture, Patricia Kucker, and Barnes North to
co-host art making workshops and an exhibition in Brewerytown. All programming was supported by: 2026 Barnes North Everyday Places Grant Program
